Well I was reading about the history of Athas and I read something on Wikipedia where it said that some Sorcerer King stopped his transformation, preventing him to become a Dragon.
Now, I don’t get how the Sorcerer Kings do to transform into a Dragon, why would someone want to prevent that, and is the Dragon of Tyr a Sorcerer King that transformed?
I’m asking all this because I just started a campaign with 3 players that never even heard of Dark Sun, and I remembered when I played a couple of scenarios in Dark Sun. So I wanted them to try it too. One of my players though really wants to get to know the world, who are the Sorcerer Kings, why is there some races that are extinct and such. So I decided to let them discover the history of the world piece by piece. But that is a question I cannot answer, and a most interesting one.
Thanks! And if you can also supply me with any additional lore, i’d greatly appreciate :)

The SK that you speak of would be Oronis, the ruler of Kurn. He stopped his dragon metamorphosis and reversed its effects in order to begin a new preserver driven transformation into an Avangion. Oronis’ major reasoning was that he sought redemption for the atrocities he committed during the Cleansing Wars as a Champion.

Hello,
The answers you seek are pretty much all of them in two places. The revised edition box and the pentalogy written by Troy Denning.
Both are easy to obtain in eBay and well wort the effort and money…
All Dragons in Tyr (and beyond!) are Sorcerer Kings that transformed, just like Thitian tried to undergo the transformation himself..

Another good place to get the answers you need is on these boards. Most of us have DS storyline memorized like bible verses in Sunday School. Feel free to send me a PM with any questions you or your players have. I also know there are some PDFs on the internet somewhere if you can find them…

Thanks guys!
I’ll see if I can’t find an good price on the books or something. The campaign is on hold right now though cause of school, but I guess having those books will be worth it anyways.
And thanks rpgagmjay, I won’t forget ;)
