Villichi Question
On page 146 of the ToA, the Villichi are labled as having “power resistance equal to its class levels + 5”. The question is what class (or classes) do you use? |
You’d use all the class levels that the villichi has. So if it was Psion 3/Druid 2, it would have PR 10. “Character level” would be a more accurate way to phrase it. |
Yes that would have been more accurate, thanks Kam. |

Alright, something new to interrogate you guys about on this topic. |
I’d say that they have some sort of knowledge of whats been going on outside of their convents. Don’t forget that villchi are born of normal human parents. I’d assume that adult villchi would pick up rumors and bone up on current events when they leave to collect villchi newborns. |

But would they know the history of the Tablelands, are they keeping a written or oral history. The reason I’m asking is one of my players wants to play one and I would like to know how much information she should know. |

I would think that they would have some recorded history but the question now becomes “how long does that recorded history reach back to?”. You would have to establish when the villichi first appeared in the Tablelands. Were they around at the Rebirth or after the Cleansing Wars (or some time inbetween)? Does the offical time line mention the villichi? If yes, I’d use that as a benchmark of when the first appeared on Athas. |

To the best of my knowledge the Villchi first appeared in the Tribe of One series (a series I have yet to read so I have no idea what is mentioned there). Beyond that there’s the 2nd Ed Monstrous Compendium entry that makes it sound like they’ve been firmly established at least as long as the Sorcerer-Monarch’s rule of the Tablelands. |

Well, the villichi are innately gifted in the Way, so I’d assume they didn’t exist until psionics first appeared on Athas which wasn’t till Free Year -13938. So I’d suggest using FY -13938 (give or take 1000 yrs) as your benchmark date for when villichi first started appearing in the tablelands. You could theorize this further and say it was an indirect result of the githiyanki mind bomb which triggered a gene mutation in humans which causes their female offspring to become villichi (think along the lines of twins or birth defects). |
