I tried to download it, but it was not free for me.

Dragon is no longer free now. If you were in early enough you could probably have seen it briefly for free.

Nah, I registered for 1 year, just wasn’t sure it was because of it. I can send the PDF through email if you guys want?

Avatar zardnaar 161 post(s)

I’ll probably register soon. Would have doe so already if they had a paypal option. Kinda works like the spellscared multiclass from the realms? The 4th ed gladiator is probably the closest mechanically I always thought they should have been- suited for a martial type class with maybe specialised training. Never liked the Gladiator class even in 2nd ed.

A credit card is not just a woman’s best friend, ya know…
Any other takers for that email?

Avatar zardnaar 161 post(s)

Right now I have 2016 spam messages in Gmail, and it’s been months since last I recall having received a spam that wasn’t filtered. Thus Gmail is goood to me ;)

Avatar hendell 99 post(s)

We have a different definition of spam, if someone on my contact list emailed me with your previous post, it would count as spam, but not be filtered.
Many thanks for the data, it amuses me that Gladiator is not a full class, but I like the precedent it sets, paragon paths with feat support and items options helps make a character unique almost as much as a full class, and its much more versatile. We could consider something like that for Templar, particularly considering the various walks of life Templars come from and the many major catagories they fit in, some warlord, some fighter, some rogue, even a few defiler.

Would love an email of the class

Avatar pennarin 143 post(s)

Mm, that’s a jolly idea for templars, hendell, nice one! So even a PC could be a templar…he’d just be a cleric not of the elements but of a SK, with a slew of templar options to choose from. This is better than just saying all templars are NPCs.

gavin, what is your email adress?

Avatar pennarin 143 post(s)

And the same dragon issue contains a second article on gladiatorial fights, detailing the effects of crowd support on a fight, albeit it’s not clear what that effect is.

COuld be interesting for Templar or Sorceror-King can be a new Power Source maybe. A Templar Defender (some kind of dark knight), Controller (kind of defiler), Leader (cleric style) and Striker (assassin). They can also be Paragon Paths with some feats like the Gladiator.

Avatar pennarin 143 post(s)

That’s way too complicated, fallenakriel. A new power source, here I imagine accompanied with new classes….too much work to do. It would be work duplicating what is already available in the PHB or PHBII or PHBIII, etc.
hendell is right when he says that many of the roles of 2e and 3e templars, both from supplements and novels, did match corresponding classes or kits or PrCs. Basically in 4e you could be a fighter, warlord, rogue, and still be a templar, using certain rules that allow you to customize your class’ powers, plus taking feats available only to templars. You could still go with cleric, but that would no longer be a limiting factor. Even a wizard could be a templar now…fitting the position of royal defiler. If WotC releases the necromancer class one day, then a necromancer could be a templar, filling the role of the 3e royal animator.
3e introduced the templar knight PrC, a mix between cleric and fighter, a kind of paladin. Well, fighterr warlords and rogues could all fit the templar knight role, you’d only need to provide them feats and alternate abilities that actually make them templars.

DS Templars and Clerics would be elemental power source. Divine power source shouldn’t exist on Athas if you’re being a purist.

Avatar pennarin 143 post(s)

Divine is just a name. It fits perfectly with what you call elemental. Just like an Athasian hero can have a quiver of Elhona. For flavor’s sake those names can be renamed, whether officially or not.

Yeah makes no differnece. Pennarin have you managed to download Dragon 368? I paid the 1 year subscription but can’r download it but I can view the articles.
