All right, here I am, I play DS since it was released by TSR and now with I heard it will be released by WOTC for D&D 4th Ed.
Ok, something I really wanna know is:

All rich (text) information contained on the older products will be released?
I looked on the available for download PDF file (Characters) at wizards.com and I think it so weak, basically just adding races and classes with no considerable changes.

What about famous NPCs? Will they live with the new DS version?

In my point of view just add a title to 4th ed. D&D will not solve the problem, DS must have everything it had to be DS otherwise it will be just campaign in a desert environment using DS name.

Dark Sun must have a special treatment exactly like TSR did when the World was released otherwise it will not be different.

Remember when you went to the stores to buy a TSR DS product? All those Boxed Sets, Adventures with Flip Arts to show players, etc…? That’s what I’m talking about, DIFFERENCE is the key of the success of DS.

What about Brom? He will be the Artist of new DS products? Will his arts walk with new products?

Many Questions, little answers, so…. What can we do?

WAIT FOR THE RELEASE…..

I shall close it here.

Kind Regards,

Magus Angelheart

Dunno how they are going to do it, and I’d like to see what is cooked up for Psionics. However, as far as art goes I’d love to see something like this guys:

They can live in your Dark Sun world if you want them to. Thats the glory of 4th Ed and WOTC in my opinion. Nothing is fully formed to make it impossible for your PC group to make a difference (ie Forgotten Realms) but will have a basic frame for you to head out into the world. A good setting example is Eberron. Eberron doesnt have a lot that has happened except the Last War and the Mourning. So far the Mourning is undefined officially leaving it up to DMs and authors to fill in the gaps how they see fit.

That is likely how WOTC will approach Dark Sun and I am hoping for that.

They gave Rikus and the gang the boot as to my knowledge. They keep Dregoth and the SKs, but then added new famous npc’s in the monstrous manual of dark sun…go figure.

NPCs and other story elements are yours to choose, as ArrogantFool said. I am currently running a 4E heroic campaign in Sigil. 4E-ers know that Sigil was introduced (in 4th edition) in DMG2 as a paragon-tier setting. It makes it a bit difficult, but not really. Back on topic, a lot of NPCs don’t fit in my Sigil, and old characters and ideas from previous editions are a perfect fit. For instance, factions exist in my Sigil, there was no Faction War. The Harmonium is the major presence. This alone gives my campaign NPCs and concepts 4E has thrown out in its vision of this setting. But as you may read in any of the published DM materials, the setting is YOURS. Make the baron a friggin’ raptor samurai if that fits. Get old DS material and pepper it in your setting, or suggest it to your DM. This will make Dark Sun like coming home.

There is a short reference to Rikus on page 141 of the DSCG… so I guess he’s still around somewhere in 4E…
