Is there any official reason, or some licensing reason that Athas.org products are not ‘translated’ to older 2ED rulesets?

I assume that it has to do with there being no OGL agreement for 2e rules.

Is that a given, as in, is that a certainty?
I know there are loads of fansites for other campaign worlds out there with 2E fanbase created products….but I never really knew if they were threading upon legal “grey” areas.

We are obliged to use 3.0/3.5 rules in the mandate set forth by WotC.
Also, the small number of people still playing 2E doesn´t warrant production of more 2E material from a resource perspective.

On another note though, would you be interested in either having someone on board to make conversions to 2E or just converting what’s already released?
Or is that legally not even possible?
I can understand that of course.

The fluff remains the same, creatures have been converted in the two “Terror’s of” books, and several NPC’s have been converted to 3.0/3.5 in one of the archive threads over on WotC forums. Environmental effects can be found in the DMG or in other Athas material. Legally, we cannot put all of that together for a post but with a little work most of it has already been done.

Also we don´t have the resources for quality assurance of 2E conversions of our material.
