So there’s already an UNOFFICIAL DS Wiki but, since athas.org is the OFFICIAL Dark Sun website, shouldn’t athas.org create an official DS Wiki? Or at the very least, have a DS info area that has info on everything Dark Sun related. The unofficial wiki doesn’t have quite as much as I’d expect from a DS Wiki. I’m thinking of descriptions of every city-state, trade post and cleric guarded oasis in the tablelands. Not to mention NPCs and notable characters from every noteworthy story. I know all this stuff is available in the books listed in the products section but having this info on a searchable online database would really help a would be DM.

In theory a good idea, PatentPending, but doubtful whether it can be executed.
My interpretation is that we are not allowed to reproduce DS content from other sources than those we create ourselves, and moderating a WIKI to ensure this does not happen (copy+paste from sourcebooks) we simply do not have resources for.

Well what if you forget about Wiki and have another section of this site that functions the same way? Not something that is editable by just anyone, like wikipedia, but is still a searchable guide to DS. I do find it a little weird that athas.org doesn’t really have that much info about Athas.
I understand that copyrighted material is a concern. Would there still be a copyright violation if someone were to add an info section that pretty much has the same info as source books like The City State of Tyr but is NOT a cut and paste?

I do have some plans for adding a section to the site that covers various locations; there have been a couple other things that have fallen at a slightly higher priority, and I havn’t yet had a chance to get that spinning.
It is something I want to do though.

That’s a good idea. I have to usually remember most of the Dark Sun stuff from the Prism Pentad, my old DM, or an occasional flip through one of the second edition books. And the unofficial Dark Sun Wiki is pretty meh, I tried to fix up some of the sections, but it’s missing essentially everything but the basics, and even that is poorly formatted.

An official, searchable, DS quasi-wiki would be quite handy.
