Anattan Wastes
Anyone knows where can I find some information about the Anattan Wastes? Besides the fact that they are the “far side of the Sea of Silt” I didn’t find anything about that region. |
I don’t believe there IS any official information on them. You might try searching the WotC boards for fan-created material, however. |
Sysane has a site with a little info on the area, though in his game it’s known as the Sundered Region. I do believe he has abandon the project for now, however. http://sysane.multiply.com/ |

Ty for the maps. It would be cool if we can put together all the fan-created material to develop the regions. I’ve some ideas, like athasian dromites (created by a permanent bond between life-benders and life-shaped items, now tied to the four elements and ruled by powerful clerics). The Glowing Gluch Chasm seems a perfect place for the fire dromites, for instance. That Dark Cupola seems interesting… It may be a good place for a cabal of shadow wizards or something related to the Black. And of course, in pre-pentad days this region could be even visited by the Dragon. |

Had that conversation with Sysane, the Dark Cupola is the stronghold of Primitive Ilithid (not as far gone as the Githyanki that became the gith from what I have been able to figure out). The interior is shielded from the sun and dehydration effects that surround it, hence much cooler and wetter in there. Haven’t talked about the Glowing Gluch though, all that I have found is listed in Sysane’s blog. “Travel is by flying creatures or Magma cleric ferrymen.” & “Fire Minions. Lorded over by a Ravoka.” No idea who or what Ravoka is, sorry. |

Phoenix: do you have larger versions of those maps you might like to submit to the Athasian Cartographer’s Guild (esp. a PSD version)? I’d be happy to host such. Also, what’s the scale on that region? There isn’t one listed on the map itself. Is it Tyr-region size? Bigger? Smaller? |
Yes, there does seem to be some shrinkage. The version I have is 1440 × 918 pixels as a PNG file (don’t have the softwere for PSD’s). As for the scale, oops I forgot the bar. Here’s a helpful distance, the Copula is 75 miles in diameter. |
Cool. Is there any way I could get my hands on the bigger version? |
Hum, it seems my photobucket account is being wonky. As far as E-mailing it, I’ve had problems with the file size on that. I’m going to find some other way to up-load it. |
If you can upload it to the web somewhere, I can dl it. Failing that, I can set up a temp FTP account on the ACG server you can use to upload it. Let me know! |
I have my own site I’ve loaded it to, I was also waiting for Sysane’s OK before posting. |
Sweet. I’ll throw it up on the Guild site, or would you prefer direct links to your site? |
I have very limited bandwidth (hey its a free site I cannot protest), so if you don’t mind adding them to Athasian Cartographer’s Guild. |
Done! I’ve added a distance measure to the map and made the Cupola somewhat see-through so that two maps weren’t needed. Hopefully that isn’t a problem. |
The distance key look spot on, the cupola seem funny with out an explanation as to why its darker (you know for those folks not familar with sysane’s work). Had it been me I would have only added the players map, where the cupola is an unknown, looks great eather way. I thank you and I’m sure Sysane will also when he sees it. |
Yeah, I figured it would. But I guess people will do what they do with the rest of the maps and fill in the details themselves for their games. Or hunt down information on it if they want something more official. |

The idea behind the Glowing Gluch Chasm was that its prominently populated by dwarfs. Ruvoka (I misspelled the name) are creatures from the elemental planes. They travel the planes easily, even the Astral Plane, but on Athas they are bound to certain locations. They often work with druids. You can find more info on them in Athas.org’s “Legends of Athas”. |
