Well hmmm…. the average adult human losed 2.5 Liters a day of water through urinating persperation ect. and to stay healthy you need to match that amount with your intake. So a one gallon and a half clay jug could last a single pc for about. 2 days with a sip or so left. Water ways 8.3 pounds per gallon and one days intake of water will way 9.3 pounds. I though my pcs would be stranded for about a week trying to get back to tyr so each pc will need to carry 65.1 pounds of water. witch is 325.5 pounds for everybody in the party. (five ppl) but then what about Non human players… i just dont know how much they’d need most likeley a lot less. hmmmmmm

how do you handle this kind of stuff. I’d though of several ways the pcs could get along with less maybe they find some cacti that they can drain water from, or maybe they drink the blood of slayn monsters… or fallen comrades or mounts (common practice in hot arid enviorments)

Offtopic but this made me think of an encounter wre they find a gruop of cacti but when they aprouch they find it a cleaver ambush and the cacti turn out to be only the ends of Tentacles wich sprount out of the ground and try to drag the PC’s to a centeral mount that was lying in wait just below the sand…

my mind wanders…

This is actually why most people don’t travel far from the city-states, and why huge caravans pulled by mekillot set out with most of the space set aside for water.

If you have a water cleric or druid in the party, your water requirements are reduced slightly, as they have spells that reduce the need for water or that create water. Skills that allow one to survive in the wilderness and find water are also useful — only the big oases are marked on the map, small pools would not be though those would likely have monsters nearby, but those are not the only sources of water in the desert.

Thri-kreen only need a minimal amount of water (I don’t have the books handy), but most of the humanoids need just as much as everyone else. Half-giants need considerably more.

IIRC, traveling by night or during twilight hours can reduce your water needs slightly.

Kreen need 1/7th the amount of water, Half-giants require twice the amount of water as the other characters. Though one would think Halflings need less water, like half the amount but I’m not finding anything in any of the books to support it.
