I found this online and thought I would share it. While a little zoomed out, it is a pretty impressive map.

Yes Fezzik the Digital Wanderer is great. Anyone remember who started that page? Because it would be nice to see finished.

There is a link on the page to contact the guy who set it up directly. I offered filling in the rest of cities, however, it seems that life is getting in the way, and the map might be as finished as it is going to get.

I work in actionscript on a regular basis. Perhaps if I can convince him to hand over the .fla file we can collaborate on adding the rest of the content.

I’d be willing to help as much as I can. I’ve got no background in actionscript, however I’ve been collecting the old darksun adventures when they come available, and usually through auctions.
What would really rock my world would be a print of that map, like one of the giant world prints… is that even possible with an .fla file?

Not really. But whoever made the map obviously has access to one of the original printed maps.

Hey folks, I’m the person that put together the DigitalWanderer map. It’s great to see there is some interest in completing the map. I’ve always intended to get back to adding location entries, but obviously haven’t done that great a job! The map is data-driven (XML), which means that no additional codebase needs to be written in Flash. Locations are added to the map by adding a new XML file with the location description, and then updating the master list of locations/coordinates (also in XML). That part is fairly trivial, and one I’d be happy to take care of. The time-consuming part is researching the core sourcebooks and writing good descriptions for each location. I tried really hard to reference only information found in the source materials, and if I couldn’t locate a reference, I say so in the description (basically no fan-created content). So if anyone would be willing to help out with that, the plain-text descriptions could be shuffled along to me and I’ll add them to the map. The basic anatomy of a description is easy to see in the existing map data.

Does that sound like a possibility?

Might be an intergration possibility as well.

I’ve been kicking around some rough code for a “locations” database — including references to where a location is further described. I have a few higher priorities with the site at the moment, but it strikes me that it’d be easy to have an XML export from information made available in that way.

An XML export would be pretty nifty. The ultimate vision has always been that the map would be linked into a wiki-like database of locations, where both official and fan-created locations could be added and updated. The Flash-app would access an API that could transform the database information into readable XML. With that kind of data exchange, the possibilities are endless; think Google Maps but for Darksun.

I got your email Urrgos. It’s great that is in XML. That was the part I was willing to do, but it looks like Fezzik was interested in putting the content in. We should keep this thread going and everyone who can, just post content for various locations as we find time to do so.

Do we have a plan on what do define as core content?
I have: tsr02400, tsr02401, tsr02404-408, tsr02410-413, tsr02417-424, tsr02428, tsr02430-433, tsr02437-439, tsr02441, and tsr02444-446.
Would any data from the written adventures here need to be added? Anyone have stuff that I am missing that I should hunt down?
