At the time of writing we have 63 members. It would be great if you could start populating these forums with questions and discussions like we used to have in the old forums at wizards.com before the merger. If we want to attract more members, we need an active forum!

I have posted a note about these forums at the Russian RPG site http://rolemancer.ru

Avatar Jon // Oracle 218 posts

Cool, Monastyrski. These forums depend on word of mouth and promotion by our community members.

I guess I should of posted here first instead of rambling and throwing my opinions about other forums first. ha!
I don’t know why I was drawn to these forums in-particular. It is a dark sun site. It was my favorite campaign when it was introduced. It is my favorite fantasy literature. I can admit it’s not the greatest literature in the fantasy genre and, perhaps, we can all agree to that… perhaps. But it intertwines with my soul, thought patterns, and intrigues. I still feel the dread Rikus felt when he awoke in the sarcophagus, the visions of the blue world when Rajaat was nearly released, the terror, majesty, tyranny of what the Sorcery-Kings wished to achieve.
Hmm, damn already rambling.
Name’s Matt. I am The Hollow. Glad to have found you all.

Where’s Red Kank?

Avatar Kamelion 89 posts

Are we using this as a “hello” thread then?
In that case, hi there everyone :) Kamelion here, but feel free to call me Mark, seeing as it’s my name and all. I posted some stuff about myself in Flip’s “Introductions” thread over at the WotC forums:
http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?p=1615…
but all you really need to know about me is that I love Dark Sun and I love lists and only when you combine the two am I truly content.

Okay, here a little info about me:
I started playing AD&D with the german Dark Sun Box in 1993, after some years playing Das Schwarze Auge which is quite popular in germany for some years. After, lets say two campaigns, the box went into the closet for some years. At the university I met some people with the same joy in RPGs as me, and since then we have a quite regular for almost 4 years now. We started with different systems and then made our own, with most of the elements stolen from other systems.
We started a new DS campaign half a year ago, after we had a group of bards trying to be the best band on the planet in a home grown setting. Slowly the players are unveiling pieces of athasian history, and they are still hot on Athas ;)

Hi all. All-American man from east-central Minnesota here. Been a Dark Sun FANATIC for 15 years now and always will be. I have never once played a character for DS, just been DM. I must say DS beats out any other game world I’ve played or read about. I am a fountain of DS info so if anyone hasn’t figured something out by now I’ll see what I can remember. The only source books I don’t have is Elves of Athas, Earth air fire water and the Gladiators handbook. I’m looking forward to talking with you all!!!

Hi everyone;
An aussie here – just returned home from working for 3 1/2 years in Asia (Singapore, China, Thailand). Played Darksun since the late 90’s. Had an enforced break whilst in Asia, but happily with my old gaming group back home on a weekly basis.
Used to contribute a fair bit of ahem constructive critism via the old forums, helped make a silt-race for a project a while back and also outlined an alternative to the Divine Ranks for the SK’s on Athas.
Have almost the entire 2nd edition collection in hard-copy, and have really enjoyed Athas.org’s work except the Defiling syystem, which is OK because it’s not their fault that ‘balance’ is such a pole up the butt of WOTC ;)
Looking forward to seeing the mega-cool advanced undead that had powers similar to the SK’s unleashed in-line with the original text.
That’s about it. In real life, in the middle of a career change away from Academia into a totally unrelated field – Law. Got married in 2007. That’s about it.

Guess the topic was a bit confusing. Originally I only meant to encourage people to start new threads. I’ll start a separate My Name Is thread. Please move your introduction posts to that one.

Would anyone be interest in starting a setting story/narrative thread discussing the future of the tyr region, and where we want the setting/story to go? As 4thedition has just launched now seems like the time to think about these topics.

Avatar Jon // Oracle 218 posts

112 registered users thus far.
I want to encourage all lurkers to come forward and participate. Unlike many other forums, this one is quite civilized with a minimum amount of flames and trolls are extinct on Athas, with one possible exception.

Avatar Jon // Oracle 218 posts

Thanks to those who have helped promote the Arena to fellow gamers and on other sites. Continue to spread the word and I think we will have a very active forum. If you have suggestions for improvements, please post them in the Site forum.

Not sure if I have said this before:
I am Chris, and am a templar here at athas.org. I am currently working on the Other Eras chapter of the final 3.5 rules, and finishing up some additional things for Legends of Athas (new, non-caster PrC’s, some new creatures, and some epic spells and powers. Oh, and a few Epic organizations).
I am living in Chicago, have a Masters in Social Work, finishing a Masters in Divinity (May 09), and looking to getting a PhD in clinical psych. So… I like to learn, and study what it means to exist, and how to deal with it.

Avatar Jon // Oracle 218 posts

Templar. You will use the “My Name Is”-thread for introductions, as instructed.

Avatar Jon // Oracle 218 posts

Did that sound mean or what? :D

Avatar pennarin 193 posts

Proactively menacing, as always, Jon ;)

Avatar Jon // Oracle 218 posts

I would say reactive in the sense that he had already posted, but proactive in that it will prevent others from doing so. I could have lightningbolted Chris in advance before his transgression, but that wouldn´t have made sense to anyone – Chris included.

Hi guys..new tothe site…first time I was introduced to D&Dwas AD&D2ed with Dark Sun in 1992…so far is the best game set ever…read all the novels have almost all box sets plus supplements, etc…favoured class is the Gladiator and racce eother Mul or a Kreen…working on a D&D 3.5 DS campaign in order to relieve the good memories and adventures…

Avatar Jon // Oracle 218 posts

Welcome aboard, thackt-kreen.
PS: This is not the introduction thread. The thread “My name is” is.

Avatar Egendo of Ca... 60 posts

Jon, it is hard for me to be menaced by someone over the internet. Something about the lack of actual physical interaction. And the fact that my identity on line is what I choose it to be. Now if only I could choose.

Avatar pennarin 193 posts

Now Chris’ vague non-committed ramblings and introspections give off this “online predator”-like feel…far scarier than you Jon. I say.

Avatar Jon // Oracle 218 posts
