Maps for Dark Sun

Any good map sites out there that the community should be informed of? |

The ‘classic’ map: |
|
|
I’m going to have to go w/ the dsrising.net maps. They are much clearer. The ‘classic’ map is too small, and I can barely make out the smaller lettering on it. When I try to zoom, it gets blurred. Wasn’t the cloth map originally huge? Like large enough to cover a small table huge? If it was that size, then that would be really useful. |

There is also The Athasian Cartographers’ Guild which stores Brian Sanchez’s maps of the lands beyond the Tyr Valley. |

And where can we find the Urik map, Greyorm? |
|

I have an old urik map. Not sure if its currently accepted as a true rendition though. |

Yep. {points up} That’s the one I was talking about. |

Yep. {points up} That’s the one I was talking about. You’re welcome. If you have anything else you want placing on the web …... just give me a yell =] |

The problem with the Athasian Cartographers’ Guild is you need to have the Photoshop software to view them. |

Does anyone know of maps that have incorporated all of the new information released by athas.org, for instance, Villages of the Wastes ? Thats a really good idea – for VotW anyway. I could add a map as an appendix at the rear of VotW, showing all the village’s locations =] |

By the way does anybody know a good program to make my own maps. |

A long time ago, I had a DarkSun atlas site that was Flash-based, but it was removed once I was no longer happy with it. I recently spent some time building out a new version of the DarkSun Atlas, and have placed it here: http://www.darksunatlas.com. It is basically a scan of the maps included in the box sets, with clickable locations that provide additional information about each place. As you can imagine, it takes a while to research all the locations, so only about 30% of the locations are active. It is also in a beta-stage right now, with a lot more features planned. It’ll all come down to how time I have to keep sprucing it up, but I thought I’d toss the link out to the DarkSun community, even in it’s unpolished state. Any feedback is always welcome! |

Very cool, Urrgos. |

You’re probably right greyorm, I should include more detailed instructions for the map. During my next update, I’ll add those in as a screen that appears as soon as the map loads. Basically you move around the map by dragging the map image. Simply left-click on the map and drag left, right, up, or down and the map will change position. Works very similarly to Google maps. |

Sweet map Urrgos, I cannot wait for the finished product. |

Excellent Work! |

Thanks to everyone that has taken a peek at the atlas. My goals are to include all the official source material, and then look to integrate any solid community-made material. For example, a more detailed regional map exists for the Lost Sea region. So when you click on that region on the large map, the more detailed regional map would then load in with all the Lost Sea locations. The same could be done for Tyr, Gulg, Nibenay, etc, since they all have official regional maps. That particular enhancement is a long way off though, as I still need to flesh out the remaining top-level map locations first. |

Awesome work Urrgos. Does anyone know of a map of Athas that has lines of latitude & longitude on it? |

I together. i visit those forums for several years but kept reading until now ;-) i have one question, that i asked myself for a long time now. i really like all those maps presented in the thread above. especially those maps from The Athasian Cartographers’ Guild are awesome for old players who have travelled along most of the common regions/maps from the official boxes. Can anyone help?? It would be great if there are already some “workouts” ;-) |
