Instead of an earthquake causing a rift, it’s a shallow impact? Maybe something hit near the Dragon’s Crown and the cone-shaped scar is from that?
I’m a DM in a 5-year ongoing Dark Sun game. I had the Great Rift caused by the Spirit of the Land Desverendi, during the battle to save Korganard. The foe was not the templar Malestic But a Kaisharga called Throdok Grun and his army of beasthead giants, Gith, and Anakore. Desverendi created a massive earthquake to seal the valley whilst the pcs were being overrun. His power was amplified while connected to Korganard and the earthquake raged out of control and it ended up swallowing one of the pcs at the same time.
