Can you bring a dragon, avangion, or similar advanced being back to life?

Not particularly. I was mostly thinking about Korgunard or whatever his name was. I’m not familiar with Dragon’s Crown, so there might be a reason you can’t bring him back, but I figure resurrection on some holy toenails might solve the problem.

Spoiler for a 30 year old adventure.
After being betrayed and killed by the Order, one member (a halfling) ate his corpse.
Hence, the pile of halfling dung.
I seem to recall that he even had the nerve to say, “if you kill me, you kill the last of him” (“but I have no reason not to kill you”).

By rules as written you could, even in 2E through 5E.
Rules as intended I am not so sure. I recall in FR acessories Dragons could not be brought back by a ressurection spell.
In my Dark Sun campaigns I have a similar rule, ABs cannot be brought back by ressurrection spells, but a 10th lvl psionic enchantment ritual could do so. These creatures are basically quasi-gods and thus above normal magics such ressurection.

Well if you read the end of the adventure you as a DM can run a follow up adventure to bring him back. Here is the passage. “If you wish, Korgunard can contact the PCs from beyond the grave to congratulate them. Resurrecting the avangion could be a challenging follow up adventure for the PCs.”

I think Raise Dead might not work, in 2e, because the advanced being might no longer count as a human or other valid target. But Resurrection should.
Valley of Dust and Fire suggests the Dragon uses Clone to avoid real death, and Crimson Legion says he has a soul gem for future restoration (neither seemed to help in Cerulean Storm … But one could argue that Rajaat used the Scourge ooze to trap Borys’s soul in the Black?)
A sorcerer-king, though, is probably unlikely to get brought back. Their own Templars would lose their spell abilities, and anybody else with the spell is likely to consider them an enemy (whether another SK’s templar or a cleric/druid).
An avangion seems more plausible.
