Yes or no: Did the ancient elves of Athas, before the Cleansing Wars, have a much greater longevity, as they do on more traditional AD&D worlds?
If so, how long did they live, approximately? What changed them and why?

I never thought they did. Elves were different from the start.
Canonically I believe the answer is no. But casting the elves as a fallen race (perhaps once even almost immortal) has some appeal.
As I imagine it, they were once different from what they are now and that change is specifically tied to strategies that were used during the Cleansing Wars.
They were originally closer to LeShay prior to being hobbled by plagues during the Cleansing Wars, at least in my view of it.
My Elves still lives up to 500 years only they have an hight mortality rate that is what pulls their average lifespan at 120.
Goodmaster, if I may ask, how do you explain their longevity? Why are they thought to have such long lives?
Well, the elves believe because they stole the spark of life from Athas itself.
I like this. This fits with elven tradition, as established by Tolkien’s Legendarium. I suspect this is in the Book of Elves.
Good deal.
