It’s been a while in the works, but the Pristine Tower team is happy to announce the release of our next book: Faces of the Forgotten North!
Written as a companion to Lost Cities of the Trembling Plains, this book gives you all the mechanics, rules, and stats you’ll need to take the lore from Lost Cities and design your own campaigns set in the Forgotten North!
There’s 3 nearly complete adventures in the pipeline - 2 linked Forgotten North Adventures and a Spelljammer/Dark Sun (Crimson Sphere) crossover adventure.
And we have 2 nearly complete sourcebooks - the Anattan Gazetteer (other side of the Sea of Silt) and Stargazers of Athas (Athasian astrology/astronomy)
And those are just what we have nearing the finish line.
We’ve got around 7 more sourcebooks in various states of completion that are actually being worked on, and a similar number of adventures that slowly getting picked at for various reasons.
All future source books are planned to be edition-agnostic (written with no mechanics in the body text, but may mention things like levels or classes), and possibly contain edition-specific rules appendices at the end. What editions it contains rules for will depend on that book’s development team, but should always include 5e/5e2024 rules. (Scale, Tail, and Claw was like this, containing 2e, 3.5e, 5e, and eventually 4e rules.)
The adventures are all also being written to be edition-agnostic, and have edition-specific rules appendices at the end. The current crop of adventures all contain 2e, 3.5e, and 5e rules appendices.
I personally LOVE 3.5e, but we know that not everyone does, and that’s cool. Our goal is to make sure to serve as much as the fanbase as possible with the content we produce.*
*Two notes about that:
For the record, it’s our understanding that Athas.org isn’t allowed to release material for other game systems (i.e., Pathfinder, etc), so we can’t release that sort of thing on the website, even if we had the resources to do that.
Part of the reason we’re doing edition-agnostic adventure is to support other systems - if folks want to run DS using Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, Lamentations of the Flame Princess or whatever, this enhances that ability. And, I’ve love to see folks post their conversions for adventures here on the Arena so others can enjoy them too!
