I came across this on the Dark Sun Reddit. This is a false oasis of sorts because the water is saltier than sea water. Watch to the end to see how migratory birds deal with the problem, and then see if your Athasian PCs in the same situation successfully make a survival check and then do what is necessary to survive.

Stuff like this is what I love about dark sun, in most other campaign settings this little tidbit wouldn’t have mattered, but on Athas it could be the difference between life and death

Worthwhile watching. How an oasis is formed. This is worth keeping in mind when introducing an oasis to your PCs.
