I agree. Bard’s Friend was really cool. I almost managed to get some stats for it into 4E through Dragon/Dungeon, but the article didn’t make it in.
One thing I really enjoyed with the weapons was the way the old 2E levels of proficiency added great tactical complexity to the weapons. 4E had the foundation to really add this in through feats, but didn’t quite deliver (and certainly not on the breadth of DS weapons). I’m not sure how 5E could deliver on this, though it would be cool.
