The Burnt World of Athas - The Athasian Survey Project 07 - Vir-Rath and the Scorched Plateau

Join the traveller as he crosses the Barrier Wastes. A reimagining of the original series (posted on the Dark Sun Facebook group) with rewritten entries and more locations, all still with the intention of highlighting rarely visited areas on the Revised 2nd edition map.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://athas.org/articles/ASP07

Touche. It means the other guy was wrong, and I need to check my info again.

Okay. You win the roast weiner.

It is actually the Darvaza Crater, in Turkmenistan.

I now see the confusion.

My image was from Google Search and listed as the Gateway of Hell (in Turkmenistan) from Google itself. However, @Orco42 found the original source of the image as a volcano in Ethiopia.

This can happen on occasion that sites and sources can get mislabelled from images searches. But I should have caught this. My apologies.

So, on account of a clerical error on my part, you both get the prize.
