Just browsing through the first monster manual and noted there wasn’t a separate entry for the tohr-kreen.
Is this something clarified in Thri-kreen of Athas (or the revised boxed set)?

Yeah, they’re listed as the zik-trin‘ta in ToA.
Per pg 182 of ToA: “Often regarded with awe by other kreen, zik-trin‘ta are seen as wise and noble philosophers by thri-kreen.”
I believe its because the kreen of the Crimson Savannah/Kreen Empire are properly known as “tohr-kreen” (which makes perfect logical sense, as the only “tohr-kreen” folks in the Tablelands ever meet are the zik-trin‘ta scouts…), but this left several mechanically different creatures all labeled as “tohr-kreen”.
I think calling the former “mantis nobles” zik-trin‘ta was one if many attempts by the old Athas.org team to straighten out parts of the lore that we confusing/confused. Probably could have been slightly more obvious about it, though…
